Mobile Drilling Robot - A Case Study Of The Effects On The Construction Site
MetadataShow full item record
Several studies have shown that there is an improvement potential in the construction industry. It is argued that while the construction industry has gone through a steady and gradual increase in turnover, the productivity has declined compared to other industries. A white paper, drawn up for the Norwegian Government, states that two of the reasons for the decline in the construction industry productivity is the absence of major technological innovations and the lack of attention around productivity and the future development of the industry. It is specified that the construction industry has not sufficiently harvested benefits and gains of modern technology. This master thesis concerns and analyzes the mobile drilling robot developed by nLink AS. The main objective is to evaluate the effects of using the drilling robot on a construction site. Six main topics within cost, time and quality have been analyzed and discussed; the robot, time study, logistics, safety, extra design and future potential.
