Abstract
Med antagelsen at minoritetsstudenter i Høgskolen i Hedmark kan ha andre utfordringer enn i Oslo, var det ønskelig å få en forståelse for minoritetsstudentenes erfaringer med grunnutdanning i sykepleie. Kunnskap om slike erfaringer kan muliggjøre en tilrettelegging av studietilbudet slik at minoritetsstudenten kan gjennomføre studiet på normert tid.

Med semistrukturerte intervjuer ble det avdekket at minoritetsstudentene ved grunnutdanning i sykepleie erfarer problemer knyttet til teoretiske studier, praksisstudier og i studentfellesskapet. Studentene ved desentraliserte studiesteder opplever det sosiale studentfellesskapet som tilfredsstillende, mens studenter ved hovedstudiestedet opplever vansker med å bli integrert.

Med grunnlag i studentenes erfaringer og konkrete forslag, blir det foreslått forskjellige tiltak for å bedre studiesituasjonen for minoritetsstudenten.
 
English: Minority students at Hedmark College may face different challenges than students in Oslo. This study’s aim was to establish knowledge about the minority student’s experiences during bachelor studies in nursing. This knowledge may be a contribution to planning of the curriculum and consequently may enable these students to accomplish bachelor within three years.

Semistructured interviews revealed that the minoritystudents at the faculty of nursing experienced some problems in theoretical learning, practical studies and in establishing social relations with Norwegian students. Students at the satellite departments experienced social student life as satisfying, while students at the central department experienced various problems in integrating.

In accordance to the students’ experiences and their proposals, some suggestions for improvement are proposed.
